Pi Day at Carnegie Learning HQ

Naturally, we had to celebrate!

Pi Day is a big deal around the Carnegie Learning Headquarters, so of course, we went all out to celebrate.

We held the following activities to raise money for The Pittsburgh Promise, a local organization that promotes high educational aspirations among urban youth, funds scholarships for post-secondary access, and fuels a prepared and diverse regional workforce.

Pi(e) Contest & Tasting

Employees baked sweet or savory pies, and for $3.14, other employees could sign up to taste and vote on the best pie. The winner? Nikki Navta, Vice President of K-12 Computer Science, with her Milk Chocolate Pretzel Pie!

Pi Swag Raffle

Employees could pay $3.14 per chance to win the option to choose from Pi related swag, including t-shirts, office supplies and more.

Pi(e) An Exec

Four managers, including Peter LaCasse (Chief Learning Officer), Julie Katruska (Chief Financial Officer), Steve Grieco (Senior Vice Presidents of Engineering) and Justin Roth (Director of HR), volunteered to take a whipped cream pie in the face! Employees could buy 2 chances to be chosen for $1 and winners were chosen at random.

Overall, we raised over $150 for the Pittsburgh Promise and had a very sweet day!
