What’s New? Building 21st Century Skills with Proto

We have so many exciting updates coming for you in the fall! Here are some of the highlights.

Meet Proto, the exciting new K-12 project-based computer science curriculum

You may remember that we acquired Globaloria last year. We are excited to reveal that Globaloria is now Proto!

Proto is a project-based learning curriculum that teaches students computational thinking skills through coding, website development, and game design. Students can design and develop games, websites, mobile apps and more while learning how to ideate, test, revise, re-test and launch projects that are completely theirs from end to end.

Proto has an engaging new look and is user-friendly for both teachers and students

Getting started with Proto has never been easier! We have new personalized guided tours to help you and your students get comfortable with Proto in no time.

Proto Guided Tour

Students can easily access their projects, gauge their progress and navigate within the curriculum on the new Student Home Page, which can be accessed right from your MyCL Portal.

Proto Student Home Page

Best of all, teachers don't need a computer science background to use Proto. The student application will guide the student learning experience through video tutorials, step-by-step instructions and examples. Each topic has one or more notebook entries, which provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their knowledge, document their learning and upload project assets. All notebook entries are viewable in the Project Notebook, which is used as a project portfolio. As a teacher, you can easily provide feedback on student notebook entries throughout the course to help keep students on track.

Within the MyCL Portal, teachers can also use Teachers Toolkit to manage their class roster, monitor student progress, provide feedback and grade projects.

*If you are a teacher currently using Globaloria, check your email this the summer for updates and the upcoming Proto training schedule.
